Without TV Sets...

If we could unplug all the television sets in America, I believe that our children would grow up to be healthier and more independent, but not necessarily more educated. I believe that our children would grow up healthier if all of the television sets were unplugged, simply because the children of America would be forced to become more active. Instead of watching television for a couple of hours each day or night, they would possibly become more involved in exercise, or maybe just something more productive, such as school work. A lot of kids in America spend hours and hours a day sitting in front of a television set, and this in turn leads to obesity in some cases. I think children of America would become more independent without television sets because if they are not watching television, they are probably doing something more productive, and learning more on their own. Television shows can be persuasive in negative ways, and this can lead to children doing things that they are told is the right thing to do when it is not really the right thing to do, instead of being more independent, and doing what they believe is the right thing to do.
I don’t necessarily feel that if we would be to unplug all of the television sets in America that this would lead our children to become more educated. My reasoning for this is because there a lot of shows on television that educate us and that are very informative in a knowledgeable way. Not all children watch television just to watch a fake show. More children than you may think watch television to learn. There are things that can be learned by watching certain shows on television that cannot be learned anywhere else. There is the history channel and the discovery channel which are definitely two educating shows that some children enjoy to watch.
